Our Mission

The Mission of Protocol & Diplomacy International – Protocol Officers Association (PDI-POA) is to provide the highest level of collective expertise and training, information, and advice regarding international and national accepted rules of protocol. We are committed to facilitating communication, understanding, and cooperation between individuals, governments and cultures.

Purpose

Protocol & Diplomacy International – Protocol Officers Association (PDI-POA) is a nonprofit mutual benefit corporation organized for purposes including but not limited to:

  • Improving the efficiency of protocol practice
  • Developing and promoting adherence to a high standard of behavior for protocol officers
  • Establishing criteria of competency for protocol officers
  • Providing collective expertise, accurate information, and appropriate advice regarding internationally accepted rules and procedures of protocol
  • Providing advanced training and continuing education programs in international protocol
  • Offering reliable expertise on protocol, diplomacy, and cross-cultural awareness
  • Making standardized information on international protocol available to past and present protocol officers, protocol professionals, and consulate representatives in public and private sectors across the United States and in member nations
  • Facilitating communication, understanding, and cooperation between peoples and cultures, as well as nations and governments
  • Increasing respect and goodwill in both the public and private sectors

Membership

Membership in the Association is open to professionals in the field of protocol who currently serve, or have served in the past, as protocol officers for any level of government (federal/national, state/province, county, city or military, ports or airports, dignitary protection/liaison units in law enforcement agencies, foreign service officers, diplomatic or consular officials), museums or cultural institutions, international corporations, international trade organizations, seats of higher education (public or private), corporations, or other or diplomatic organizations (e.g., United Nations), and those who currently serve, or have served in the past, as professionals in allied professions, organizations, and services.

The Foundation

Protocol & Diplomacy International – Protocol Officers Association (PDI-POA) is registered as a 501(c)(6) organization incorporated in the State of California, United States of America. Any sponsorships — corporate, individual, or otherwise — are not tax deductible as charitable contributions but may be eligible as a professional business expense.
